How to Rotate Pages in a PDF

PDFToolShack’s Rotate Pages tool runs entirely in your browser using pdf-lib.js. Load your PDF, use the visual page grid to see exactly which pages need rotating, then apply rotations individually or to a selection — all without any upload or account.

Each page thumbnail shows a live preview of the page rendered via PDF.js, so you can see at a glance which pages are upside down or sideways. Click any page to select it, use the selection helpers to quickly grab odd/even pages, then hit one of the rotation buttons at the top to rotate everything selected in one go. Or use the per-page controls under each thumbnail for fine-grained control.

When you’re happy with the rotations, click Apply Rotations — Download to save the corrected PDF to your device. The original file is never modified.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. Everything runs in your browser. Your file is loaded into memory, processed locally by JavaScript, and the rotated PDF downloads directly to your device. No data is ever transmitted to any server.
Can I rotate just one page?
Yes. Use the per-page controls beneath each thumbnail to rotate individual pages independently. You can mix and match — some pages 90°, others 180°, others not at all — then download the corrected PDF in one go.
Will rotating affect image or text quality?
No. PDF rotation changes a metadata flag in the page dictionary — it doesn’t re-render or re-compress anything. Quality is identical to the original.
What does “90° CW” vs “90° CCW” mean?
CW = clockwise (the page rotates to the right). CCW = counter-clockwise (the page rotates to the left). If a page is sideways and the content faces left, use 90° CW. If it faces right, use 90° CCW.
Can I rotate a password-protected PDF?
If the PDF has an open password, unlock it first with our Unlock PDF tool. PDFs with only permissions restrictions can usually be rotated directly.
Does this work on scanned PDFs?
Yes. Scanned PDFs are just images embedded in PDF pages. Rotating them works the same way — the page orientation flag is updated without touching the image data.
