How to Merge PDF Files Online

PDFToolShack’s Merge PDF tool runs entirely in your browser using pdf-lib.js — a modern JavaScript library that handles PDF manipulation client-side. Your files are never sent to a server, nothing is stored, and the merged file is generated in memory and downloaded directly to your device.

Add your files using the upload button or drag them into the drop zone, reorder them with the up/down arrows, choose your options, name your output file, and click Merge. The whole process takes seconds regardless of file count or total size.

Works in all modern browsers — Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari — on desktop and mobile. No plugins, no Java, no Flash required.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are my PDFs uploaded to your server?
No — never. This tool runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your files are loaded into browser memory, processed locally, and the merged result downloads directly to your device. No data is ever sent to any server at any point.
Is there a file size or page limit?
There’s no server-enforced limit since everything runs in your browser. Very large files (100MB+) may be slower on devices with limited RAM, but for typical everyday merging there’s no practical issue.
How many PDFs can I merge at once?
As many as you need — there’s no hard limit. Add files one at a time or select multiple at once from your file picker, then drag to reorder before merging.
Will the merged PDF lose quality?
No. Merging PDFs doesn’t re-compress images or re-render text. Pages are combined exactly as-is, so the output quality is identical to the originals.
Can I merge password-protected PDFs?
If a PDF has a user (open) password you’ll need to unlock it first with our Unlock PDF tool. PDFs with only permissions restrictions (print/copy locks) can usually be merged directly.
What browsers does this work in?
All modern browsers — Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari — on both desktop and mobile. No plugins, no extensions, no Java required. Just open the page and go.
